Bridgeport Oil and Rental Services (BROS) Site
Project Location: Logan Township, NJ
Project Number: CP07-159
Project Description: Wetlands Restoration

Enviroscapes is in the early stages of a wetlands restoration project at the Bridgeport Oil and Rental Services (BROS) site in Logan Township, New Jersey. The BROS site is a 30-acre parcel of land, formerly used as waste oil storage and recovery facility, located in Logan Township, one mile east of Bridgeport and two miles south of the Delaware River. The property originally housed a tank farm, consisting of approximately 100 tanks and process vessels, drums, tank trucks, and a 13-acre waste oil and wastewater lagoon. Initial estimates indicated that the lagoon contained about 2.5 million gallons of oil contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), 80,000 cubic yards of PCB-contaminated sediments and sludge, and 70 million gallons of contaminated wastewater. Groundwater underlying the site and extending about 2,400 feet from the lagoon has been contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

NYSDEC Voluntary Cleanup Program, Nassau Metals Site
Project Location: Staten Island, NY
Project Number: CP08-075a
Project Description: Wetlands Mitigation

Enviroscapes conducted wetlands mitigation and enhancement activities for the NYSDEC voluntary cleanup program in Staten Island, New York. Enviroscapes first installed 2,700 linear feet of goose exclusion fence. Goose exclusion fence was installed around the perimeter of the low and high marsh areas (L-8, H-2, H-3, and H-4). Goose exclusion fence material was TenaxTM Utility Fence. TenaxTM fence is heavy duty, four (4) feet in height, UV stabilized, corrosion/rot resistant, polypropylene mesh (mesh size is 3-inch x 1 ¾-inch). The perimeter exclusion fence was fastened to wood stakes with cable ties. The wood stakes were 2-inch by 2-inch by 6-feet long, installed at a minimum, 24-inch below grade. Wood fence posts were installed every 10 feet on center. Following goose exclusion fence installation, 38,000 square feet of interior goose exclusion netting/twine was installed inside the goose exclusion fence. The interior fence was placed in a square grid, with wood posts spaced a maximum of ten (10) feet apart along the grid pattern. Wood posts were six (6) feet in length, with a minimum of 2-feet installed below grade. Twine comprised of durable, rot resistant nylon or polyester with a minimum diameter of 1/8-inch was securely tied to both horizontally and vertically to each adjacent post, so the end result was a 10-foot by 10-foot grid pattern. Finally, red and silver Mylar flash tape was tied on the twine at the mid-point between each post.
