Project Description: Detention Pond Restoration, Lift and Drop Method

Enviroscapes conducted detention pond restoration, utilizing a lift and drop method, at Wal-Mart Store 2254 in Hammonton, New Jersey. Two (2) stormwater basins at the mentioned location were retaining water for over 72 hours, which did not conform to their stormwater quality design permeability rates.

Enviroscapes has conducted general site maintenance for the I. Heller Construction Company, Inc. at their Bensalem, Pennsylvania and South Brunswick and Edison, New Jersey facilities. Heller Industrial Parks Inc. owns and leases more than 15 million square feet of state-of-the-art distribution buildings nationwide, making Heller one of the largest industrial park owner/ developers in the country. Heller specializes in the building, leasing, and managing of rail-served, close-to-market distribution centers in seven states.

Fort Dix Sanitary Landfill

Project Description: Landfill Maintenance

Enviroscapes has conducted landscape maintenance, including mowing, weed trimming, herbicide application, fertilizing, and seeding at the Fort Dix Sanitary Landfill in Fort Dix, New Jersey for over nine (9) years. Fort Dix is located in Burlington and Ocean Counties, New Jersey, approximately 20 miles southeast of Trenton and is a permanent Class I Army installation that occupies approximately 31,110 acres. Fort Dix is a major training and mobilization center for the Reserve Component Soldiers - the Army Reserve and National Guard. During an installation restoration program, a preliminary assessment and site inspection was performed at Fort Dix. Several potentially contaminated sites were identified, including the Fort Dix Sanitary Landfill. The Fort Dix Sanitary Landfill was placed on the National Priorities List in 1987.

McGuire AFB, Former BOMARC Missile Site

Project Description: Clearing Activities

Enviroscapes conducted clearing activities at the McGuire AFB, in the former BOMARC missile site.

The McGuire BOMARC site measures approximately 2,500' long by 1,800' wide. It was built with a total of 56 individual BOMARC A missile launch buildings, and an additional 28 individual BOMARC B missile launch buildings. The McGuire BOMARC site was activated in 1959, and was manned by the 46th Air Defense Missile Squadron.

Enviroscapes mobilized one (1) site supervisor/equipment operator, one (1) equipment operator, three (3) laborers, one (1) CAT 277 Tracked Skid Steer with 4/1 Bucket Attachment, one (1) LX 985 New Holland Rubber Tired Skid Steer with Ambusher Attachment, two (2) F350 Pick-up Trucks, one (1) F550 rack truck, one (1) equipment trailer, one (1) 12-inch chipper, and clearing safety equipment including chaps, hard hats, face shields, etc. for the project. Prior to conducting site-clearing activities, Enviroscapes personnel received an 8-hour radiological training course, conducted on-site, in conjunction with the mobilization.

Former Raritan Arsenal

Project Description: Vegetation Mowing Activities

Enviroscapes conducted vegetation-mowing activities at the former Raritan arsenal site in Edison, New Jersey. The site is located within the Raritan Center area on the banks of the Raritan River in Middlesex County. The arsenal consisted of approximately 3,200 acres and was operated by the Army from 1917 to 1963. Operations at the arsenal included the receipt, storage and shipment and/or decommissioning of ordnance, arms and machinery.

New Jersey Natural Gas Company

Project Description: Wetlands Maintenance Activities

Enviroscapes provides wetland restoration maintenance activities for New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) in the Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Enviroscapes maintenance activities center on active upkeep of these areas related to the assessment of the health of the vegetation, soil erosion, site hydrology, presence of invasive species and volunteer species observed during the maintenance events for each area.

Berks Landfill Site
Project Location: Spring Township, Berks County, PA

Project Description: Landfill Maintenance, Vegetative Cover Mowing Services

Enviroscapes conducted landfill maintenance and vegetative cover mowing services at the Berks landfill site in Spring Township, Pennsylvania. Enviroscapes cut fifty-four (54) acres of area, including thirty-one (31) acres of crown surface, sixteen (16) acres of slope surface, and seven (7) acres of area noted as “Area Behind Equipment Building,” using a tractor with flail mower attachment. Grasses were cut to within 10 inches of ground surface. This included around the soil berms and swales and access roads. Areas inaccessible to the tractor were cut with weed whackers and/or a riding mower. The landfill was cut to the project engineer’s satisfaction in a one-week period.

Harmony Landfill
Project Location: Harmony, NJ

Project Description: Landscape Restoration

Enviroscapes conducted landscape restoration activities at the Harmony landfill in Harmony, New Jersey. Permanent seeding was conducted for 65,340 square feet of area in traffic areas and 87, 120 square feet of area in the landfill cap. Seeding was performed using a Finn T90 Hydroseeder. Enviroscapes conducted seeding activities in accordance with the following specifications:

  • Seed Mixture - applied at a rate of 200 lbs. per acre.
  • 80% Turf-Type Tall Fescue
  • 10% Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 10% Perennial Ryegrass
  • Water Soluble Fertilizer- applied (10-10-10) at 400 lbs. per acre.
  • Straw Mulch – applied at a rate of 2 tons per acre.
  • Mulch Binder- Earth Bond polymer liquid based mulch binder.

In addition, Enviroscapes conducted seeding activities for 87,120 square feet of area in the landfill cap with the following specifications:

  • Seed Mixture - applied at a rate of 200 lbs. per acre.
  • 40% Turf-Type Tall Fescue
  • 10% Creeping Red Fescue
  • 10% Chewings Fescue
  • 10% Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 30% Perennial Ryegrass
  • Water Soluble Fertilizer- applied (10-10-10) at 400 lbs. per acre.
  • Straw Mulch - at a rate of 2 tons per acre.
  • Mulch Binder- Earth Bond polymer liquid based mulch binder.

Chemical Insecticide Corp, Superfund Site

Project Description: Landfill Cap Vegetation Mowing

Enviroscapes conducted landfill cap vegetation mowing at the Chemical Insecticide Corp, Superfund Site. The Chemical Insecticide Corporation (CIC) site is located in Edison Township, New Jersey, and occupies approximately six (6) acres. Presently inactive, the Chemical Insecticide Corp. manufactured a variety of insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, and herbicides from 1958 to 1970. Inappropriate production, storage, and waste disposal practices resulted in the contamination of soils, ground water, and surface water with pesticides, herbicides, and inorganics. The CIC site was added to the National Priority List (NPL) in October 1989.
